The Regrettable Wedding Invitation

The gown I wore to the wedding {nope, you're not gonna break my soul...}

You know how I said I would share my Saturday incident in a previous post. Although this website is for the sole purpose of inspiring through design, fashion, food, travel, beautiful images and positive thoughts, occasionally there are also some of life's unpleasant experiences to share every now and then... {just to keep it real}. Let's face it, life isn't always all roses and peaches - right? The ones that make you think it is... ARE LYING! Inevitably, there are those moments that you've got to vent a little for mental sanity sake.

Sometimes I wonder why do I attract underhanded deceptive "friends"? I'm sure you know how disappointingly hurtful they can be if you've ever been double-crossed by one. You see, I'm the type of person that always wants to help people and often I sacrifice my time and go out of my way to help others. I regret to find  that in the end, some of those people turn around and stab me mercilessly in the back over and over again. Mind you it's not like I get something in return from some of these people - usually, I'm left drained afterwards, but my heart is super soft and I can never turn down someone in need - I know some of these people see that and take advantage of it. Well, my friends, that's exactly what happened to me this past weekend.

How is it that a "friend" is going to have you run  around with them in preparation of their wedding, all the while telling you how wonderful you are, {meanwhile, they've got a ton of "friends," family... how come they're not helping?}. and then after all the usage was done- ditch you? And then to add insult to injury - invite you to their wedding where they know there are no seats for you accept in the cleaning closet where the chairs, mops and brooms go - away from the main party?

After we picked up our mouths off the floor from shock/disappointment, we decided to go to Bouchon  Restaurant Bistro where we ate fine cuisine, and got treated the way we deserved to be treated {like humans with feelings}.

This is just another lesson learned in a strange backwoods town {aka ..the howling desert}. It shows that forming friendships with people who are callous, self-centered and selfish inescapably yield distressing and disastrous results. This requires making an honest assessment of whom we spend our time with. Especially when you're desperate for friends... because forging a friendship with someone who is a devious person is very unhealthy... leaving you drained with negative feelings. Now, I'll post about our Bouchon's experience soon, so stop by again. What do you think about them apples?

Refresh Your Nest

Refresh Your Rental With these tips and make a it a home

I custom made the drapery panels to soften the windows, but also to sort of hide those hideous vertical blinds... I knew we weren't staying forever in this space, so I didn't change them to bamboo shades which I would have preferred.  However, if you know you'll be in a space for a long time, by all means change out any unsightly blinds to add a greater impact and warmth to the space. I've never been a fan of carpet, but since it's a rental I was stuck with it. So I went with a chocolate shag area rug on top of the carpet in the living room to tie in the chocolate brown color from the dining room and kitchen - making the space cohesive. The rug also brings warmth, and personality.

I wanted to share with you some of the before and after pictures of our temporary condo rental in the desert of Henderson,Lost Vegas while we've been here for our business. This temporary condo rental was your typical generic 'blah' white walled apartment that one usually gets when you rent. However, it met its match! Anyone that knows me well, knows that I don't live with white walls or in spaces that don't reflect my/our welcomingpersonality well. Believe me, it could have been a cardboard box and it would still get an immediatemakeover.

You can also refresh your space by making slipcovers for your chairs and change them out for spring or winter. Sometimes the small details can give a room big impact without having to spend a lot of money.

I love the punch of color these red shapely plush velvet chairs bring to the space - not to mention, the nailhead detail on the back of them add a chic touch of sophistication.

I've never been afraid of using color and being that this space is so bright, it gave me the perfect opportunity to put a lively teal color on the walls that I balanced out with a rich chocolate brown.

Hopefully the small changes I've made in this condo will inspire you to refresh your space letting your style and personality shine irregardless if you own or rent. When you have your home looking its best... surrounding yourself with things that make you happy, you'll find that you feel rejuvenated when you enter your home, and it'll also help you not feel overwhelmingly discouraged when you see all the pretty spaces in decorating magazines.

Fool Me Once I'm Stupid... Fool Me Twice I'm A Total Moron!

As I was getting dressed in the hotel, I realized my blingy broche for the dress's strap was left in the car {that's why these photo shots are without it}, but it made its appearance for the show;}

After a rather disappointing Saturday {will post a snippet of the incident soon} dealing with people taking advantage of me once again because of my soft heartedness and giving spirit, I had to try hard to get my mind out of the funk by reflecting on my fun times in Hollywood this past month. I have to say though, despite it all, I had a great weekend. Hope you all did too.

Happy Monday!!!

Glamorous Mother Of The Bride Dresses

Nothing makes me cringe more than hearing people as they age say: "Oh I can't wear this or that because of my age...." To me, being fashionable means that you do not give up on life and being stylish just because you're reaching maturity. With age should come wiser desicions on the choice in clothing reflecting a more refined taste of a more confident individual. It's all in the attitude of how you carry yourself!

 Like Simon Cowell used to say on American Idol "just my opinion..." {with that lovely British accent:} I miss him a lot on that show! Mother of the bride gowns have been on my mind this month ever since I was helping a bride-to-be search for an elegant gown for her mother. Hope these glamorous gowns give you some inspiration on how to dress appriopriately glamorous.

Just Plain Edgy

Vince Camuto Jorgie Colorblock Platform Pumps {These colorblocking pumps could be another option for the above outfit. Loving these shoes!}

Lately, it seems that I can't catch my breath with all the must-do things on my list. I truly feel a bit overwhelmed about the current downsizing of our life and getting rid of all the unnecessary extra stuff, but at the same time it is very freeing.

What's frustrating is the fact that I have so much to share with you fellow fashionistas/design enthusiasts, but I just can't find enough time in the day to sit down to write on my website... which is really a good mental decompression for me, since it gives me that moment of creativity and relaxation.

Anyway, I saw this cute fur jacket a while ago. I immediately fell in love with the color and  style of it. Seeing this jacket inspired me to style it like this... What do you think?

Thank you for reading my blog.
Happy weekend!

Things I'm Currently Eyeing

My style is forever evolving. This should be the effect of growing into a more confident, better person right?  I love change because I hate the thought of stagnation and always leave room for possibilities. That being said, these are some pieces that I'm currently eyeing. What are you eyeing right now?

1. Silver-Plated Chandelier from Neiman Marcus {I love the glass drops in that pendant light, they add that shimmering elegance that I always have to have in my home}.
2.Meadow Blues Chair from Neiman Marcus {I just love the curved back of this chair. This chair will grace any home's decor with a timeless elegance.}

Contrary To Popular Belief

Contrary to this French "designer's" thinking, I was born to two people (a FRENCH father at that! HA! Although very dysfunctional...) who were very fashion/design conscious. My parents dressed up even to go the beach.  They looked nothing like the typical ripped up pant, raggedy missing  a button faded plaid shirt, unraveling straw hat with ashy feet crowd, as this dim-witted ignoramus would have you believe.

I don't mean to sound conceited, but I was raised with a great fashion sense way before 2008 {if you catch my drift;}. My mother used to tell me how I started walking in her stilettos when I was 3 years old with no problem, playing fashion show all day long with my dolls. Truth be told, that year did not raise my fashion awareness WHATSOEVER!
