Four Ways To Keep A Friendship Alive

"You look as if you've lost your best friend."

People will say this when someone looks a bit sad or depressed. And let me tell you, when you really have lost a best friend, this saying takes on a whole new meaning. Moving away can take such a toll on a friendship. Trust me I know, cause I have experienced that pain, and it's one that never goes away. After all, true friendship is something special and precious. Good friends provide us with companionship and support when all else fails. Understandably, such loss is very difficult, but the way to handle it is simply to think about it as a change. Just because a friend moves away {although devastating} - does not mean that the friendship is over.

How do you keep a good friendship alive? I love the adage that says "the road to a friend's house is never too far."

Here are some points to keep a worthwhile friendship alive:

1- Through good communication by writing a card or letter.

2- A phone call from time to time. I'm old-fashioned I guess, cause I honestly feel texts and emails have their place, but can be impersonal on which to build a true friendship.

3- A well planned visit together can also make a long distance friendship thrive.

4- Be Loyal. "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out." And how true that is. A loyal friend will stick by your side through good times and bad times and work on lifting you up.
