LIFE VIEWED THROUGH MIRROR COLORED CAT EYE SUNGLASSES

Banana Republic Military Jacket+Floral Dillton Shirt_American Eagle White Fray Ankle Skinny Jeans_Bebe Snakeskin Fold-Over Clutch

Confession: In my sophomore year in high school, I don’t know what got over me, but I suddenly had this urge to wear glasses because I thought it would make me look smart, cool and more attractive. Hence, I somehow got myself a fake pair. Don’t ask me where I acquired said pair nor do I know how I even had the cash to obtain it, but I remember wearing it whenever I stepped outside my house. What’s even more crazy, I used to squint (even though I had 20/20 vision) pretending not to be able to see when I took them off around my friends. [Giggles] It sounds so foolish as I write this. But, it was also the era of Lisa Loeb who made wearing glasses look so sophisticated at the time - not to mention she also had one of the best hit single songs that I loved back then. I can definitely say she influenced my sudden urge for glasses.

Now fast forward decades later where I began to find myself slowly but surely starting to squint for real in order to see clearer, which I’m going to blame on spending hours of reading and cross-stitching until the wee hours of the morning under very dim lit lighting. You know how when you’re young you don’t think that you’ll ever get old? Well in my case, I never thought I'd ever in a million years have to wear glasses because I had eagle's vision for so long. But as life would have it no other way, eventually, I was obliged to face the reality of needing eyeglasses. Even though my diagnosis was prefaced with a “you only need a very light prescription,” I still felt bummed knowing that I really had to wear them. After relinquishing to the reality of it all, naturally there were certain criteria that had to be met in picking out a pair. They had to be stylish, meaning they couldn't look as obvious as Urkel's glasses - not that there's anything wrong with his fine fashion sense;-) but you know... and would have to be a pair that is classic, yet on trend, and cool enough to want to wear regularly.

In the beginning of the year when the hubby and I decided to go get our eyes checked and update our glasses (for it had been over seven years since our last visit), they asked me if I also wanted a pair of prescription sunglasses as well, to which I was game since they had a cool pair that I really liked. While I see fine when driving with my regular non-prescription sunglasses, I have to say using my Rx ones do help me see the signs much clearer. So when GlassesShop.com reached out with an opportunity to collaborate, I didn't want to pass it up.

I'm obsessed with sunglasses just as I am with shoes. I have more pairs than I can count and not once do I ever think I have too many. So suffice to say, I immediately began clicking through their glasses selections and was excited when I saw many of the styles tick off the criteria that a pair must have for me to wear them. And since I have been wanting a much trendier second pair of prescription sunglasses, I was more than happy to give them a try. Within minutes perusing through their glasses online, I instantly fell in love with the cat eye white yellow-mirror coating that I'm wearing in this post for many obvious reasons: 1) They are a statement piece and I’m all about great statement accessories, 2) the shape and style of them look extremely cool, 3) I love me a mirror coating pair of sunnies, as there’s no eye contact whatsoever - very 'movie star-ish', 4) they add a distinctively sophisticated touch to any plain outfit, and 5) the combination of the white and gold frame tapered arm with the silver triangle detail on the tip is oh, so chic! Beauty is all in the details. Opting for a prescription pair in these was a no brainer. In fact, this pair was so enticing, it took me out of my sabbatical for a quick minute to write this post.

Banana Republic Military Jacket+Floral Dillton Shirt_American Eagle White Fray Ankle Skinny Jeans_Bebe Snakeskin Fold-Over ClutchWhat’s more, the process of browsing their website and picking out my selection was a breeze and pain free. Once I decided on the pair I wanted, all I had to do was send in my updated lens prescription via email to them and voila! my pair of glasses arrived in the mail in a little over a week. They are even more beautiful in person. I was pleased that although they are inexpensive, they do not feel it. They have a little weight to them, but not too heavy that they leave an indention on your nose or slide off your face nor are they too tight on the sides (and my face is much rounder lately than usual), yet they fit perfectly. They came well packaged in a clear case with a felt piece on the bottom interior to protect the glasses and includes a cleaning cloth. Definitely a good value for the price. I can tell you right now, these new cat eye sunnies are my latest practical (and affordable) new accessory favorite.

The only con (and it's a really small con) is, although the clear plastic carrying case it came in is a very sturdy one, I just wish it was of a better quality or at least came in a pastel pink or white case to match the frames. Other than that, I would definitely buy another pair from this seller.

So Long, For Now

So Long, For Now_Take a break for a moment_Quote

I've been agonizing over the decision to take a break from blogging or to delete this site altogether for over a year now. Between currently trying to piece our life back together in our new place after our long move from New York to the West on top of full time commitments, my mind is so scrambled I'm in dire need of a sabbatical to reboot and recharge my creative thoughts. As bittersweet as it is, I hate not being able to keep a consistent posting schedule, which also has become mentally exhausting/upsetting, as I spend restless nights thinking about content that I didn't have time to post, after hours being spent into putting them together.

When I started blogging back in 2010, I loved having an outlet to keep my creative juices flowing, a place and space to use as an inspiration board to keep inspired, share tips, and connect with like-minded creatives. Spending hours taking photos, choosing which photos were worth sharing, editing them (when necessary), and writing till the wee hours of the morning never felt like a burden. In fact, I have loved every minute of creating a beautiful site to share things I love and an extension of expressing my own style aesthetic. It's definitely been a way of relaxing and keeping me in a happy place. Suffice to say, writing  posts was something I constantly looked forward to. Up until recently, I realize I've been spending more time thinking about how behind on my posts I am and more time feeling frustratingly sad, rather than concentrating on a whole other world of responsibilities outside this tiny online space. So it's so long, for now. It's with a very heavy heart that I'm even writing this post since this online space has for years helped me cope with many difficult moments in my life, as it's always been a means that helped keep me in a bubble by focusing only on the beautiful things and experiences in life. I already miss being on here, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do for the sake of keeping sane. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to getting our life back by putting together a beautiful space for us to call home again.

So long on the blog for now_Give Yourself Permission To say yes to your well-being _Quote

That said, don't go abandoning me just yet. Be sure to keep up with me on Instagram and Twitter, as I will continue to share some #instagoodphotos there.

Until next time. Wish you all the coziest of fall and warmest winter!

P.S. Some fall items that I'm currently swooning over:

Charlie's Secret Garden

The Charlie Boutique Hotel in Hollywood_West Hollywood California

Even though I've already said 'adieu to summer', which really doesn't officially end until this Thursday, I couldn't think of a more perfect pair of pants and setting to close out my summer outfits with. I'm not one who follows prescribed fashion rules; I allow my mood/environment to dictate my outfit picks the majority of times, as is the case here (roaming around in Charlie's secret garden) when the hubby made the brilliant decision of foregoing a stay at one of our favorite L.A. hotels, in lieu of The Charlie.

New York & Company_THE AUDREY CROP PANT - LEMON PRINT

It's a hidden gem of fourteen English Bungalows inconspicuously nestled so perfectly right in the heart of West Hollywood. It's tucked away in a regular neighborhood, so you'd never realize it's there just strolling down the street. Behind beautiful vintage barn wood gates, you are lead into an amazing open paving stones courtyard oasis amidst trees and vines, enchanted by the sound of soothing water fountains and birds. As soon as I drove onto the property and stepped into our little bungalow, I did not want to leave. Since I fantasize of the days of Hollywood's golden ages, I was overjoyed to have had the chance to escape into this exclusive private hideaway where you get a taste of what's it's like to live behind those exclusive gates of the rich and famous.

Playful Printed Caftan Dress

JLo Summer 2016 Embellished Printed Caftan Dress

I would say, rejuvenated, energized, gratified and lighthearted are some of the emotions I feel the minute I'm in California. It always feels like an endless summer, which never fails to put me in a relaxed state of mind. Being inspired by the laid-back atmosphere, I couldn't think of a better choice than this distinctively playful printed caftan dress for a luncheon date in Newport Beach last week. Its chic, unrestrained, comfortable style combined with the embellished details, just seemed elemental with the right amount of glam that I'm drawn to. Basically, an ensemble that reflects my spirited personality in all of its glory. {Insert the winking face emoji here}

WORDS OF WISDOM WEDNESDAY: THE 3 C'S OF LIFE

Life Choices Quote - Chances_Changes_Choices- Make your own choice and be happy with it

Instead of hating or feeling jealous of someone else's life, focus on your life and the choices that you've made. Don't let yourself become so fixated on someone's personal choices to the point of feeling contempt towards that person. It may be time for you to make necessary changes. If you have time to focus and judge someone for their decisions, then you have time to focus on your own choices. After all, the life that you have lived are the choices you have made, the chances you took.

Happy Hump Day!

Pretty Little Delicate Lingerie Lace Details

Pretty Sexy Little Delicate Lingerie Lace Details - You are beautiful in your own skin

Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she's beautiful.

Whenever I start slipping into a mental funk of feeling less feminine or less sexy (especially, when my summer cocktail consumption has me weighing a little bit more than my petite frame can support, as if I'm with child), instead of letting myself totally go into that place of no return, I head to a couple of my favorite lingerie stores and pick me up some pretty little delicate feminine things. There's a femininity to lace's delicate look that just evokes such a sensuous romantic feeling. From  little lacy delicates, sexy sets and intimate sleepwear to everyday pretty lace lingerie, you can't help but feel sexy instantly by slipping into one. Even a simple thing as putting on a pair of silk pajamas after a nice bath before bed, has the power to make you feel a lot more attractive. It's the fragility of this romantic textile that is equally suggestive and sensual. And what better day on this Labor Day to get some of these goodies for less prices.

From left to right:  1 // 2// 3// 4// 5// 6//

Even though it doesn't melt away the extra pounds or take away the cause of feeling unbecoming completely, in the interim, it does the trick in helping me reconnect with my body - pushing me to get back into shape a lot quicker. How about you - what helps you to not develop an unhealthy feeling about your body when you're not in your best shape?

Next time you think of beautiful things, don't forget to count yourself in.

Long Island Wine Tasting Tour 2016

Long Island Wineries: Sparkling Pointe_Macari_Raphael_Grand Ole_Osprey Dominion

For the most part, I would much rather spend each day close to home celebrating and doing something I enjoy, instead of making a one time trip to a far-off locale, though that too has its place. So breaking up this anniversary by exploring something new (to us) locally, made awakening each morning a lot more exciting. Once our getaway destination was decided, the wine tasting tour of course had to be included on the itinerary. Given that one of our favorite pastimes is to explore different wineries (mostly on the west coast), we thought it was time we gave our own hometown a chance to see if we could finally discover a wine that we can also claim as one of our favorites, or really one of my faves now that the hubby is allergic to wine (such a bummer).

Our personal limo tour started at 10am and lasted till 5pm, so we had a good amount of time to stop at quite a few wineries. After all, Long Island boasts well over 50 wineries (considerably more than ten years ago when we lived there) and is the 3rd largest wine growing region in America. There's definitely a wine or two or three for every taste bud. Out of them all, there were certain ones that stood out, but only one made the favorite list. Obviously everyone's palate differs, therefore my picks might not be to someone else's preference. As someone who is into a buttery smooth Malbec or a refreshingly sweet white wine like, Reisling and Gewurztraminer, I'm sure you'll understand what swayed my wine choices listed here.

Also bear in mind, that my picks are based on only the few wineries we did get to stop in and visit, which means we only scratched the surface. For me, aside from discovering a great tasting wine that can be added into my repertoire of favorites, the entire experience is equally as important. Wineries with staff that are friendly, fun and leave you wanting to return make the entire experience memorable and worthwhile.

Osprey Dominion, a very understated winery with limp service.
From the wine mixture tasting we did, the one that stood out to me and I would recommend is the Sauvignon blanc late harvest. It would pair nicely with savory food - think goat cheese and foie gras.

Macari Vineyards, aside from the pretty bottle displays upon entering into what feels like a supermarket, this place was uninviting. Between, the flies everywhere and the unfriendly staff, it was a dreadful experience that forced you to gulp down your wine flights as fast as possible. The only reason why I remember the one red wine that I liked, was because I made sure to write it down after we left the place. Which red you ask? The Collina Merlot. It's close to a Malbec in taste and body.

Sparkling Pointe, we stopped at this particular vineyard to indulge the hubby's preference for sparkling wine. The decor of this place was totally unexpected and a breath of fresh air. The glitzy modern decor complemented by the scenic views of the vineyards out back in the garden captured our heart. Though we didn't find or come out with a favorite sparkling wine, we were captivated by the sights nonetheless - making it a memorable relaxing spot where we enjoyed sipping on a few bubbly's with caviar overlooking the grounds.

Raphael wineryhowever,  was the highlight of our tour and comes in at number one! I highly recommend this winery for its good wine, great tasting food, friendly service and overall charm. From the architectural Mediterranean style building (makes you think you're in Italy) and the friendly servers, to their excellent marguerite flatbread (and I'm not into flatbreads but I've been craving theirs since...that's how good they are), this place certainly delivers an unforgettable wine tasting experience. My favorite wine pick from their white wine flight is their 2013 late harvest Riesling. I really enjoyed that.

Girl In The Moment

Often we become so focused and busy watching out for what's ahead of us that we fail to take time to do the things we enjoy. At times, a little reminder is what we need to reset our thinking. That's why I appreciate the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, "the purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." As an individual who lost her young mother and newborn siblings unexpectedly at the tender age of 11, this taught me that life is fleeting. There's a proverb that says "as mortal man, our days are like those of grass that blooms like a blossom of the field, but when a wind blows, it is no more, as though it was never there." It is a reminder that life is short, time is fast, no replay, no rewind and we get no refund on an unused life. Plus, one never knows when things might change. Hence, how important it is to give oneself the permission to stop for a breath and come up for air. One such place that granted this was Sagamore Hill, where looking back at history, taking in the scenery of simpler bygone days, allowed us to unwind, meditate and reflect appreciatively on all that we have.

Summer Maxi Dress and Lucky Brand Crochet Lace Wedges Wide Brim woven Cat Eye Sunglasses

Onto this outfit: This maxi dress and wedges are such comfortable pieces, I found myself living in them for a good part of August, especially on those dog days of summer. With a few swap of accessories, like adding this hat and sunglasses to protect the face from the sun, made getting dress a cinch and kept things feeling breezy.

Grateful Moments

1. New decor projects inspiration

Spending the last five days driving across the country on vast open roads surrounded by pure wilderness and wetlands, was such a welcome change from the frenzied energy of the city where a narrow vision of life can easily develop. It felt as if we'd escaped the turbulent world and left it behind...briefly existing in our own little peaceful cocoon. Such a release is a reminder of how incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don't. I couldn't be any more excited for some of the new changes on the horizon. I wish you a refreshing weekend. Make an effort to slow down and recharge your battery.
