SCALLOPED EDGE FLARE

Michael Kors Lace Blouse Scalloped Edged_Paige Bootleg Flare Denim Pants_Top Knot_Hairstyle

Hello, everyone! Hope you had a great long holiday weekend. Our weekend consisted of a lot of eating out with different friends each day starting from Thursday. I’m hoping this week’s busy schedule of running around from one appointment to the next will help me burn off the calories from all the indulgent food and drinks consumed over the weekend. In the meantime, below you will find some of my favorite items from the Nordstrom half-yearly sale. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already noticed I started some retail therapy last week, but this bag is sure giving me heart eyes. These t-strap sandals and this drape coat are SO up my alley! Hmmm… I’m afraid there's no end in sight to my retail therapy any time soon.

Grateful Moments

Beckabella West Coast Rental
1.      Very soon, we’ll be packing up these current corner details

Happy long weekend, you guys! How is it that it’s not only already Friday, but Memorial Day weekend to boot?! One word: crazyyy! These last several weeks have just been a whirlwind, and honestly, there’s no end to this runaway train in sight. With several extended summer vacations on the horizon, I’m both excited and a tiny bit anxious at the same, since I’ve yet to think/prepare as to what I’m packing and still need to get some items ordered before the dates just spring up on me. Right now, just for the sake of keeping sane, I’m going to only focus on the present moment, like going for drinks with a girlfriend tonight. Can’t wait to just sit still, talk, sip and giggle the madness away. And tomorrow, I’ll worry about the other events we have to attend over the weekend. But before I leave you for now, here’s a glimpse of what made my week. Wishing you all a calm, relaxing, and safe weekend!

THE BEST TROPICAL STYLE PINA COLADA

Caribbean Boriqua Style Pina Colada

One of my life's pleasures, is concocting cocktails, especially, ones that bring nostalgic memories such as this pina colada recipe. From salsa music blaring out of flower filled box windows to the sound of cheerfulness echoing from within the home as a feast was being prepared for expected company, were the sounds you heard as you approached my best friend's parents' house in the summer. Add to that was the highly anticipated tropical slushy style cocktail refreshers freshly being blended for the imbibing pleasure of the guests. That's why recently, when a girlfriend invited us over for dinner and asked me to bring a favorite cocktail, I jumped on the opportunity to go down memory lane, making this perfect for summer cocktail that I named 'The Best Tropical Style Pina Colada.'

Caribbean Tropical Style Pina Colada Recipe

Caribbean Tropical Style Pina Colada Recipe

And today my friend, I'm going to share with you the recipe to this sweet slushy cocktail I learned watching my friends make for years. I guarantee you, this is the best pina colada you'll ever taste and will become your new special summer go-to cocktail. Don't wait to go on a tropical vacation to enjoy this, bring the tropical vacation to you!

Ingredients {makes 4 servings}

1 fresh pineapple peeled, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
6 ounces sweetened cream of coconut* (use Coco Lopez)
2 ounces unsweetened coconut milk*
8 ounces white rum
8 ounces dark rum (optional, but necessary;-)
8 ounces coconut rum (optional, but necessary;-)
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
3 cups ice (can also be made with pineapple juice instead of water, which can be made ahead of time)
Pineapple wedges, Maraschino cherries or cocktail caviar for garnish (optional)

Directions

Pour the rum, frozen half fresh pineapple pieces, cream of coconut and coconut milk, lime juice, 3 cups ice into a blender. Blend until smooth.

Divide drink into glasses. Top off each glass with a ½ ounce dark rum.

Finish with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherries or cocktail caviar as you’d prefer.

TIPS: Things to do ahead: freeze 1/2 of the pineapple pieces (laying flat in the freezer overnight or for a minimum of 3 hours) so the drink mixture can come out in the perfect frozen slushy consistency.

*Make sure to shake cream of coconut and coconut milk before measuring.

The pina colada mixture can also be made ahead of time and be kept in the freezer for 25-35 minutes.

Enjoy!

HELLO SUNSHINE GRATEFUL MOMENTS

1. First summer travel essential

Happy Friday, guys! I know you’re probably wondering if I were ever going to write another grateful moments post since I’ve not written one in a while. Honestly though, If I had to describe how life has been the last eight months or so in one word, it would be juggling. But more like a manic juggler who has no skills at catching any of the balls coming down on him. Sometimes real life obligations, even for the most organized person (like myself), can just leave you feeling scattered and overwhelmed to say the least. And often, that overwhelming feeling can just be paralyzing, as it often sends the mind reeling. “I’m so behind on everything, I’ll never get it all done, "I can’t get myself together…",  "I’m such a failure…” That’s why having a good number of self-motivating quotes framed and hung all around my place serve as great reminders for me during those moments. Quotes such as, “Stop freaking out! Fix it if you can, if you can’t, go to sleep and try again tomorrow.” Or “Keep going. Every day is a new day with a fresh start from what you learned yesterday.” I find it to be one of the simplest ways to get the nudge needed to keep going. Thus today, is another day.

DRAGONFLY PRINT BLOUSE AND PAIGE FLARE JEANS

Paige Denim Flare Jeans_Lucky Brand Sandals_Balenciaga Bag_Gold Link Chain Choker Necklace

I'm panicking ever so slightly about all the things I’d like to get organized and done before summertime hits. Not only is my wardrobe under-prepared in general for this season, I'm also left with very little time to shop and figure out outfits for an almost entire summer getaway that will require a few fresh and fun outfits for sure, where some warmer clothes may or may not be needed for one of our destinations. But in the meantime, these flare jeans have been on repeat lately for good reason. The combination of the dark wash and the chic retro vibe of these Paige denim flare jeans mixed with the super comfortable stretch of these pants, makes me forget I’m even in jeans. Pairing it with this whimsical dragonfly print breezy blouse top and my favorite wedge sandals – has made this ensemble irresistible.

WHAT ARE YOUR LIFE'S PLEASURES?

Afternoon Champagne Afternoon High Tea at the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel

"The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of life."

A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon something I read in one of Oprah’s books a while ago that resonated with me. It couldn’t be timelier. She asked, “what are your life’s pleasures?” and broke it down with the following questions: ‘if you were to use a rating system from 1 to 5 stars of things that give you full satisfaction and the most pleasure in life - from your job, family, worship and friendship to your children. What would they be? Which one of these would get the most stars?’

Periodically, making such a self-examination to gauge what our priorities are in life can be great. Especially in this day and age with social media where the need to keep up with the Jones's has become a national pastime, even if the Jones's are workaholics on the verge of a heart attack at the age of forty-three. All too often, excessive concern for more lies behind such tragedies – making us forget to prioritize the most important things that bring us joy and happiness in life.

Being aware that the only moment we have for certain is this very one, and it’s about to be over - has always helped me to make time for the things that truly bring me pleasure in life. I think using the rating system is such a good way to help reevaluate your life’s priorities and put it all in perspective. Here are some of the things that pretty much get a high star rating in my life.
~ My hubby – my one and only family in my life: five stars.

~ Daily maintaining a close relationship with God – who gives me the ability to even enjoy what I do to begin with: five stars.

~ Afternoon tea at the Beverly Hills hotel – spending an afternoon relaxing and drinking my favorite tea with the right company: five stars.

~ Fresh flowers all throughout my space – never without them: four stars.

~ The moment I pull-out my house for a vacation: five stars.

~ Bringing people together for a good time: four stars.

~ The feeling of a clean house and having things in their proper places - in my household, that’s at ALL times: four stars.

~ Walking into a great smelling space (hello, Nomo Soho and my own house): five stars.

~ Weekend brunch – did someone say, 'bottomless mimosas?': five stars.

~ Feeling connected and understood in the company of a good friend: four stars.

~ Being in New York in the fall: five stars.

~ Having something to look forward to, like a girls’ night out or a couple’s massage: five stars.

~ Crawling into my favorite hotel’s plush bedding with my favorite magazines: five stars.

~ Snuggling on the couch with the hubby to watch our favorite DVR shows: five stars.

~ Going on dates with the hubby: five stars.

~ Room service on vacation after a long day of exploring: five stars.

~ The sound of the needle hitting the record on my record player: four stars.

~ Decorating a new place: five stars.

~ Laying in bed in my robe at a favorite hotel watching a movie: four stars.

~ Entertaining friends - just the process of preparing for a dinner party and the anticipation of having company, gives me that warm fuzzy feeling: five stars.

~ Self-Love “me time” pampering while listening to my relaxing playlist: four stars.

~ Getting things, like online orders or gifts/cards in the mail: five stars

~ Volunteering my time in my community and helping people to improve their lives: four stars.

~ A great bottle of Gew├╝rztraminer wine at the end of a long day with a home cooked meal: five stars.

How about you guys - what are your life's pleasures? I'd love to hear.

Live Life in Color

High and Low_Floral Maxi_Steve Madden Blue Suede Spring Summer Sandal

Happy Monday, Guys! Since resuming my blogging schedule, I’ve been thinking of a lot of topic ideas for this year aside from the usual suspects, like fashion, travel, and d├ęcor. I’m also thinking of giving you lovelies your own weekly spotlight on here. BUT, I wanted to turn to you dear loves for your advice and ask you - what topics would you like to see more of? Give me your ideas in the comment box below. I’m looking forward to getting your input.

When you look at the vivid colors such as the blue and deep magenta hue of the bougainvillea, doesn't it make you grateful that we live life in color? Without noticing it, we constantly use color to help us process information about the world around us. For instance, the color of the sky and clouds helps us to know the weather. The emotional impact color has on us, makes us feel alive, so its important to inject it into our wardrobe and our space. Opting for the little details such as the blue suede sandals and blue bag really enliven the whole look. I know walking in an environment laden with such an array of deep vivid hues such as these, awakens my soul and makes me appreciate that although we don't need to see in color to live, yet our creator knew life would be much more enjoyable with it.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed several sneak peeks of this outfit already. Finally here's the full details in all of its glory. Longline cardigans are one of my favorite wardrobe staples for spring layering. They’re perfect for those brisk mornings and chilly evenings, plus they elevate any basic outfit when combined with the right pair of heels. The more volume in fabric, the better. The way it moves and flows when you walk always makes me feel like a super woman. The mix of textures and soft hues of stripes in this one - enlivened by the wine color pants (which by the way feels like the softest suede you have ever felt and feels as equally good against the skin), allow the leopard print booties to punctuate the whole look – which I’d like to think is a perfect representation of my not-so-subdued personality.
